Shared Responsibility Agreement
The Shared Responsibility Agreement Program provides employment and training to Indigenous people participating in the Community Development Employment Program.
It combines on the job and formal training.
Participants in the 18 month program will be employed full time with the Tennant Creek Town Council while studying towards Certificates 1 and 2 in Rural Operations.
They work in different areas to learn the varied skills required in municipal work.
They are offered full time employment as the Program progresses and their skills are enhanced.
Training is provided in units and assessment is competency based.
Examples of units include:
- Following basic chemical safety rules
- Observing environmental work practices
- Applying chemicals under supervision.
The Tennant Creek Town Council provides the Indigenous Employment and Training Program in partnership with:

- The Indigenous Coordination Centre
- Charles Darwin University
- Katherine Rural College
- The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
