About the Council
The Tennant Creek Town Council was established in 1978, and the first Elected Council commenced on 13th May 1978.
In 1983, Council built the Civic Centre, with the unique Pyramid building, administration offices and the Library.
In 2006 council administration was moved to its current premises at 58 Peko Road. The building was built by the Commonwealth but has been owned by Council for some years.
Tennant Creek Town Council will cease to exist on 30 June 2008 when it will be dissolved to make way for the Barkly Shire Council.
