People in Tennant Creek keep a broad array of pets and for many animals special licences are required by other Government agancies. This applies particularly to native animals and includes snakes and lizards.

At present Council only requires dogs to be registered but if there is a trend towards exotic pets then these too may come to Council's attention and could require licencing.

At present Council does not ban any type of animal but other agencies may have their own requirements.
